California is an at-will state, meaning, employers can fire or demote employees whenever, however they wish, for whatever reason they wish AS LONG AS IT&#039;S NOT AN ILLEGAL REASON. Illegal reasons include: discrimination (disability, racial, sex orientation, marital, etc.), during a protected CFRA or FMLA medical leave, retaliation (for whistleblowing, taking medical leave, etc.), and on and on. If facts establish an illegal reason for the termination, you may have a claim. Speak to an attorney right away.</description>
