10 Signs You’re About to be Fired (2023)
Getting fired doesn’t always involve a dramatic showdown meeting with your boss who tells you to pack your things and get out. In an age where employers are paranoid about getting sued by fired employees, firing an employee is often more complicated, involving many subtle steps. As an
employee, it’s up to you to spot these subtle signs before you run out of options. The more lead time you get, the sooner you can engineer a smooth transition into your next position.
eWeek.com has an article called 10 Signs Your Company Wants You Gone. It’s worth the read, especially as the jobs market heads deeper into recession.
Doesn’t CA law state that an employee is entitled to a copy of anything signed in their employee file? The HR department said I can come in her office an view my file, but they don’t make copies…is that legal?
My wife has low sugar and the doctor is been trying to controlled it for 6 months. Finally my wife could not take it anymore a lot of pressure from work, things that for 11 years was not a problem to the company now they were. The doctor took my wife out of work and put her on disability for 6 months. 2 weeks later we got a letter with her final paycheck, she was fired. one reason was because she did not seek permission from work. Is this really legal?? I need help.

I’m a part-time buyer at a Long Beach clothing retail store. Several months ago I put it in a written communication telling management that I was no longer available to work on Saturdays due to religious/spiritual practices. Early in the week, one of my associate(assistant) managers explained to me that we were going to be short next week and she was hoping that my co-worker A.(who is also jewish and requests saturdays off) and myself would be available to work saturday the 15th. I reply that I’ll have to think about it as my commitment to the sabbath is very important to me. A few days later, my store manager(the big boss) approaches me at the register and TELLS me that I am scheduled to work on saturday the 15th because “the store needs must come first.” If she had asked me, instead of TELLING me, I don’t think I would have such a problem with it…but as it is, I feel my religious choices have not been considered with respect and I feel unprofessionally treated and personally offended. I NEED to know what my exact rights are in relation to my religious commitments and availablility at work, and what, if any options I have in dealing with my manager in this situation. Like I said, my lack of availability to work on Saturdays IS in writing. Thank you for your help.
You risk getting fired for not being “committed” enough to the company, however usually religion reasons trump all things. You could fight it but do you really want to squabble over ONE saturday?
In this tough economy, this post makes sense.
